      TypeOneNation Summit - Wisconsin 2019

Enjoy a full day of inspirational and educational activities led by national and local experts to help you and your loved ones better manage life with type 1 diabetes (T1D). All those impacted by T1D are welcome to attend free of charge. Lunch will be provided (gluten free is available upon request). Each individual participant, including teens and children, will need to be registered separately. Click here for the event agenda. See below for keynote and breakout session descriptions. Inspiring Keynote Speakers JDRF volunteer and advocate Cathy Baier will kick-off this year’s Summit with our opening keynote session,"Promising Progress: JDRF Impact on T1D Advancements," sharing how JDRF has helped drive progress in accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications, as well why she is so passionate about this game-changing work.  Caregivers of a child with chronic illness often silently struggle with feelings of anger, fear, jealousy, self-pity, guilt, a heightened need for control, and exhaustion. Pull up a seat and listen as JDRF volunteer and advocate Bonnie O’Neil shares strategies for dealing with our emotional responses to our child’s diagnosis, and building healthy relationships with our child with T1D, our spouse, and our other children during the lunch keynote session, "Can We Be Honest? Restoring Emotional Health While Raising a Child with T1D with Grace, Courage and Love." Click here for more information on the keynote sessions and speakers. Informative Breakout Sessions Customize the day to fit your needs, selecting from informative breakout sessions on a variety of topics including advocacy, insurance, exercise, mental health, nutrition, technology, managing T1D in the school setting and more. Click here for a full listing of breakout session options and descriptions.
