      PHASE 1 - UNDERSTANDING AND INTEGRATING COMPUTER SCIENCEThis first course is designed as perspectives and foundation class. Attendees will learn all about the multiple arenas of computer science and coding. They will also have time to explore various types of platforms and activities for teaching CS (Computer Science), no matter what level or subject they are engaged with. Key terms and concepts are introduced through inquiry-based projects.  Course 1: Foundations of Coding and Programming (for all teachers)October 15, 29, November 12, & 19, 2019 | 4:00—7:00 pm Computational Thinking Platforms and Perspectives World Applications and Uses Key Concepts and Terms Basic Hands-on Inquiry Coding PHASE 2 - TEACHING COMPUTER SCIENCE (TWO COURSES)These two courses align with both the NEW Praxis Computer Science certification and the CS Discoveries curriculum. The focus is on actual coding & scripting with a continued emphasis on classroom and student projects. When finished, participants will have a deeper knowledge of computer science terminology, application, and activity design.Course 2: Computational DesignJanuary 14, 28, February 18, & 25, 2020 | 4:00—7:00 pm Study of Computational Systems Application of Mathematical Processes within Computational Systems Hands-on Development of Coding Design Course 3: Application DevelopmentApril 21, 28, May 12, & 19, 2020 | 4:00—7:00 pm Study of Access to Information Generated Through Computer Systems Hands-on Development of Systems Application Hands-on Development of Robotics Integration This series of three courses cover all the main competencies and standards found on the Computer Science Praxis Exam. Participants will be encouraged to take the Praxis Exam which ensures licensure. Those that do not feel ready to take the Praxis can still submit the application and portfolio work from the courses to DPI to obtain a provisional license.
