      (204006) Writers' Workshop Level I (5K-8)

      November 19 & 20, 20198:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. This institute will provide educators with the information necessary to implement a Writers’ Workshop inclusive of all learners for students in grades 5K-8. Time will be provided for participants to engage in the writing of mini lessons and to practice the art of conferring. The following topics will be covered throughout the institute. · Workshop Overview and Balanced Literacy· Mini Lessons· Conferring· Units of Study· Anecdotal Notes· Three Types of Writing: Narrative, Informational, Argument/Opinion· Mentor Texts· Anchor Charts· Writing Notebooks/Writing Samples· Strategy Groups and Partnerships· On Demand Writing Assessments “Steph was an amazing presenter. It really gave me a better understanding of WW as well as goals to implement immediately in my classroom.” Marsha, Oakfield Stephanie Leonard-Witte has been an educator for the past 28 years in Ohio, Indiana, Colorado and Wisconsin. She is the Assistant Superintendent for the Continuous Improvement of Teaching, Learning and Equity for the Sun Prairie Area School District.  Stephanie facilitates professional development in all areas of teaching and learning 4K through 12th grade in the lake country area and beyond. Her educational passion revolves around all areas of literacy with an emphasis on digital literacy and the universal design of instruction to include all learners in the general education classroom. Stephanie holds two masters’ degrees and is currently working on her PhD at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She is a certified educational coach and has attended numerous institutes held by the Columbia Teachers College Reading and Writing Project.
